The new year calls for some new Photography resolutions to set in the new year!

At the start of the new year, it is always a great idea to reset, make new plans, make new resolutions, and start fresh for a fresh year.  If you are someone who wishes to up their photography game by taking up new challenges and new resolutions, then you must stay with us till the end.

Let's get started!

1. Try Something New

Try Something New

As a photographer, you may get comfortable in your craft and bound yourself to capture a certain genre. You can always try other genres of photography or even filmmaking, cinematography, and videography. Trying something out of your comfort zone will force you to slow down and get more deliberate about your craft.

2. Re-visit Your Old Pictures

Re-visit Your Old Pictures

Your Photographic eyes will continue to change and develop over time. You’ll not realize how your craft has changed over time. All you need to do is, take a break from your shoots, distance yourself, sit one afternoon, and look back at your pictures. Revisiting your old clicks will help you realize how far you have come, what you can change, and what essence of your photography you can bring again.

3. Visit a Photo Gallery or Museum

Visit a Photo Gallery or Museum

It’s always great to visit the art of other artists as it can help you gain inspiration, and new ideas, and will also allow you to get better at your craft. Photo galleries, museums, and exhibitions are great ways to check out different forms of art. And if you find even small art shops, go in there, talk to the owner, and check out the artwork hanging on the walls.

4. Plan a Trip, Just to Take Pictures

Plan a Trip, Just to Take Pictures

Photography, as a profession, can be stressful and overwhelming when you’re getting paid for it. Plan a trip, travel, just to take pictures, and focus on your craft. Photography often rewards you when you slow down, take your time, and just work through a gradual process. One of the best ways to slow down is to plan a trip to give yourself the time so you take better images, get better at your art, and deliver better to your clients.

5. Grab a Photobook for Inspiration

Galleries and exhibitions aren't the only places you can visit to witness great art. Pick up a photo book from one of your favorite photographers and observe how you can come up with something new by taking their photos as inspiration.
